Sienna E.

Sienna is a 14 year old girl. While in utero she developed oligohydramnios and was born with her upper limbs paralyzed, hip dysplasia, leg-skeletal abnormalities, an immature intestine, anaphylaxis, and failure to thrive. Thus far Sienna has had 17 reconstructive surgeries in tandem with the Paley Center and Dr. Nath from the Texas Paralysis Center. Every morning when she wakes up her body is locked and needs to have and her joints pulled open, along with stretching her at school and throughout the day to allow her to maintain hand function.

Sienna’s growth plates closed early, so she did not get a full correction of the legs. She is able to walk but has daily pain in the ankles and feet. Sienna does therapy everyday and has fought to gain use of her small hands.  She takes an adaptive piano class and loves to sing and perform.

Most impressive is her spirit.  She never quits, nor feels sorry for herself. She started an organic soap company and donates her money to the Jupiter Best Buddies program to help children with extreme cognitive impairment. She is kind, companionate, creative, and strong. She is always looking to brighten someone’s day and lend her small hand.
