Violet B.

Meet our fierce little warrior princess, Violet — better known in our family as Diva!

She has embraced that nickname from the very beginning. Now 9 years old and wheelchair-bound, Violet has been proving her strength since the moment she entered this world.

Born at just 27 weeks alongside her twin brother, she spent months in St. Mary’s NICU fighting for her life after an unexplained 85% blood loss. For eight long hours, doctors worked tirelessly to keep her alive, even when they feared she wouldn’t make it. She survived a grade 4 brain bleed, which led to her cerebral palsy diagnosis.

Cognitively, Violet shines bright, but her mobility is the most impacted. Violet is in 3rd grade.

Violet still lacks enough core strength to sit unassisted or walk on her own, and she sometimes struggles with head control. Her left arm is stronger than her right — though she navigates an iPad like a pro. Determined and independent, she always tries to accomplish tasks on her own whenever she can.

Violet loves creating art, baking, swimming, shopping, and doing all the things little girls her age enjoy. She has a huge heart, an infectious smile, and the sweetest giggle you’ll ever hear.

Thanks to the generous help from Chasin A Dream, Violet recently received a wheelchair lift installed in our family van — a true game changer. Now she can bring her power wheelchair everywhere we go, giving her the freedom and independence she craves when out in public. Before the lift, we had to rely on a lightweight push chair because her power chair was simply too heavy to load manually.

Violet absolutely adores her new lift, and we are beyond grateful for the incredible angels at Chasin A Dream who made this possible for our family.
